This brief provides an overview of the EQUITY Framework for Health, designed by the USAID | Health Policy Initiative, Task Order 1. The framework aims to help policymakers and advocates engage the poor throughout the policymaking process and integrate pro-poor strategies into health policies and plans. The six components of the framework are E - engage the poor, Q - quantify the level of inequalities, U - understand barriers to access, I - integrate equity, T - target resources and efforts to the poor, and Y - yield public-private partnerships for equity. Additional briefs in this series focus on how stakeholders can use each component to help design policies, programs, and financing mechanisms to better meet the needs of the poor and other underserved groups. (This is the brief format.)
