To realize its vision of becoming a globally competitive and prosperous middle-income nation in 20 years, Ethiopia will need to address the issue of rapid population growth. Based on projections using the RAPID Model, this booklet shows how wider use of family planning, especially modern contraceptive methods, will result in lower overall fertility and thus a lower rate of population growth. Improving access to and use of high-quality, affordable family planning services will help to satisfy unmet need, resulting in lower fertility and a lower rate of population growth, thereby contributing to social and economic development and achievement of the national vision.
