Abstract:

This module trains HIV program designers/managers to understand how gender and sexuality inform HIV risk and resiliency. It explores sexuality as a broad concept that influences many dimensions of health and well-being. It also unpacks the meanings of sexual orientation and gender identity (SOGI) as they relate to HIV—dispelling myths about SOGI that sometimes affect HIV programming decisions. The training prepares participants to design activities to address gender and sexuality in the context of HIV prevention, care, and treatment, and guides participants through a process for conducting a gender analysis with a focus on sexuality.
