Abstract:

This presentation shares findings from application of the Policy Implementation Assessment Tool to assess national HIV policies and plans in Guatemala and El Salvador. Key recommendations for improving policy implementation included ensuring that policies are responsive to the most at-risk populations, strengthening leadership capacity of the multisectoral AIDS councils, and increasing implementers' access to information about available funding sources. This work was presented at the 2009 HIV Implementers Meeting.
