Where We Work
Cameroon
The USAID | Health Policy Initiative completed its work in Cameroon on September 29, 2010.
In Cameroon, Task Order 1 of the USAID | Health Policy Initiative implemented “Advocacy for Policy Change.“ Supported by USAID’s West Africa regional bureau (USAID/WA), “Advocacy for Policy Change” increased the awareness and commitment of decisionmakers and other stakeholders to HIV prevention, care, and treatment. The Health Policy Initiative’s work complemented an ongoing USAID/WA activity that promotes the adoption of HIV prevention behaviors and improves the quality of HIV prevention services in four of Cameroon’s most affected regions. As part of this effort, the Health Policy Initiative collaborated with local stakeholders to adapt and apply the AIDS Impact Model (AIM) for Cameroon. The project also built the capacity of local organizations to use findings from the AIM application in evidence-based awareness raising, policy dialogue, and advocacy.
